The Right Window Treatments Truly ARE Key To Successful Room Design!

window treatments

1. Make your window a focal point

Every room needs a focal point for design. If you have an exceptional painting or sculpture, that may do the trick. If not, remember, your custom window treatment is the one design feature created specifically for you.

A print or color treatment can set the tone for the entire room achieving just the effect you want for your home. If you want a focal point in your room, a creatively designed window treatment is the answer. Windows are truly a design opportunity for setting your room's mood and style!

2. Make your window a background

You'll add beauty and grace to your home by creating a soft background in your window treatment design. Choosing simple lines, soft swags and muted or neutral colors help make a gentle, yet finished-looking decorative statement, a lovely background for a comfortably beautiful room.

Thoughts for the New YearThe Art of Placement

I’m at one of my clients homes in The Excelsior in Boca Raton. We’re accepting deliveries and managing our workmen who are installing built ins…our client is expecting all to be done before her 2:00 p.m. arrival today! Welcome to the Holidays!

Installs are when you find out exactly how off your walls are,
how uneven your floors and ceiling turn out to be and why the draperies may not go in exactly the way you planned.

While we’re pulling together this spectacular ocean front pied-e-tere, we have three other projects rushing towards completion again, prior to the holiday!

What everyone of these clients have in common is that each and every one of them have decided is that, come hell or high water their home is going to make them feel great when they walk in and they all want to enjoy it for the season this year!

The Holistic HomeThe Art of Placement

I've decided this month that we'll take a break from the Client Q. & A. because it's time for something else to take precedent! As anyone who's turned on the t.v. lately or read about the tragedy in the news knows it's time to try to turn our homes into the nurturing environments we look forward to returning to at the end of every day.

It's time for us to focus on creating environments for our physical and spiritual well being.

More and more clients are looking for ways to improve the quality of their lives; I say begin with your home and create the sanctuary you need.

Living Beautifully With ArtThe Art of Placement

This month's client question for our Q and A column really hit home. I've recently inherited some art and collectibles that have wonderful memories for me. It can be challenging to incorporate pieces that you have emotional attachments to into your existing collections; even for me, i.e. The Art of Placement, Inc. Just the question of "where do I want to see this everyday?" has major impact.

So many times I've entered homes that house the most interesting collections and art pieces but everything's so jumbled up you can't appreciate the beauty of each piece. It's important for the senses not to be overwhelmed, the eye needs to be able to rest. A good example is when you go to the opera…you just can't appreciate the music without the pause; not every space on the wall has to be filled.

Q. Can you give us some basic how to tips when it comes to hanging our art? No matter what we do, it just doesn't feel right.

Q. Help! We’ve decided to stay in our home, which is in need of work, and we have no idea where to start.

A. The thought of either renovating or decorating your home can be really exciting and a bit scary at the same time. If you’ve never done this before, remember that you have to take many things into consideration; i.e. budget, style and time. If you want to go it alone, here are some ideas to start off with:

T'is the Season to be Believe!

By Nancy Feldman

I still believe in miracles! Yes, even through brain surgery (just like on t.v), a zillion skin cancers, the passing of my beloved mom and dealing with a terminally ill dad, I woke up the other morning and said I still believe! No! I'm not Peter Pan.
I believe in fantasy, lapis, magic, luxury (when and where you can afford it) bold colors, tenderness and just a little hint of mystery.

Every day individuals in my business meet people with expectations and dreams! They believe or wish to believe that living a certain way will give them what they're looking for and you know what, to a certain extent they're right. At different times in all of our lives we need/ want/ desire different things. Our life circumstances change and so our surroundings must change as well to make us feel whole or complete again.

We will give you a $50 discount on a consultation or project if you mention this article when calling.

Are our Homes Ready for the Future?

by: Nancy Feldman

Everybody is talking about it, it used to be that no one wanted to even think about it, but the newest hot button in the design field is all about preparing your home for the future.

Who really wants to imagine it

but the majority of baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964) are considered to be the sandwich generation. We think about aging, our aging parents, school age children, often college students, newly wed children and sometimes even grandchildren.

Are we ready for the future?

Are our homes ready to take us on?
